PHILANTHROPY AND GIVING

Our focus has been to give and support thoughtful non-profit organizations that are making a life changing impact on children throughout the world.  Whether it is supporting and participating in summer camps for foster children or helping a blind orphanage in China build a special needs campus, we are drawn to the people, most importantly, who have dedicated their lives to being selfless and making others' lives better.

CAUSES WE SUPPORT

Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children 0-4 years old. They distribute new and gently used items through a network of community based organizations. In July 2011, MDB donated over $5,000 worth of bedding and toys to this outstanding organization.

Bethel is a not-for-profit organization that provides foster care, education and professional training for Chinese orphans who are blind or visually impaired. MDB shares Bethel's passion and conviction that all children should have equal opportunities to thrive. That is why we have provided them with special Braille computers and printers, MP3 prayers, new washing machines, an industrial sterilizer and diapers. We look forward to a continued relationship with Bethel and tho the prosperity of their students.

City of Hope is one of 40 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. It is recognized worldwide as a leader in compassionate patient care, innovative science, and translational research. MDB has given significantly towards supporting COH's aggressive approach to fighting ovarian cancer.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. MDB is pleased to work with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to change lives in our neighborhoods. MDB raised over $20,000 for Habitat for Humanity in 2012.

The nonprofit Harlem Children's Zone runs a comprehensive network of education, social service and community-building programs for children, from birth through college, as well as supporting the families and communities around them. HCZ serves more than 11,000 children, with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty by readying them for academic success and the high-skills job market. In 2012, MDB donated $10,000 to HCZ.

Journey House is dedicated to helping emancipated foster youth over eighteen years of age to meet their initial independent living needs to access adequate and appropriate housing, education, and employment, and to build their self-esteem through personalized attention and positive outreach services. MDB realized the importance of ensuring that foster youth succeed int heir adult lives and that they grow in healthy, happy and independent individuals. We are helping to provide Journey House with the resources they need to accomplish these goals.

Lake Avenue Community Foundation serves at-risk youth in a neighborhood that contained high population density, high household density, and high household size. MDB supports their mission to help these young people thrive academically, emotionally, economically and spiritually.

Royal Family Kids' Camp is the leading network of camps for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. In on-week camp experiences, these children can create the positive childhood memories they so desperately need. At MDB, we've supported Royal Family Kids' Camps by donating $2,000 to a Southern California camp each summer. Over the last 15 years, that's $30,000. But when it comes to precious moments, that's priceless.
